Take a bus from Malaga to Tarifa. From there, the ferry to Tangier is 35 minutes. There are at least five crossings per day. Tarifa is a nice place to spend a couple of hours, assuming you have to wait for a ferry.

if you are trying to be time efficient then when you arrive at the malaga airport check the board outside at the busstop - if a bus to marbella is about to arrive then get on it which is half way to algeciras and tarifa. i normally catch ferries from algeciras and then come back from tangier to tarifa as it is faster and more reliable but getting to tarifa from algeciras or malaga not so easy. but if you see a bus to tarifa then by all means but if they are not regular from marbella or malaga then go to algeciras.
if when you get to the airport youve missed a bus to marbella then it can be best to get on the number 19 into the malaga bus station and then find your bus - you have to go to the particular locations sales counter that you are wanting.

you could also consider, if as you say you want an interesting way to morocco, then i found the most interesting was catching a train from malaga to ronda which was only 12 euro and staying the night there, a really lovely town to visit, and then a train the next day down to algeciras, i think i got on one about 11am, or maybe it was earlier!? - that route is regarded as either one of the nicest in spain or in andalucia. i stayed in a nice hotel for only 25 euro. then down to algeciras, over on the ferry to tangeir then bus to tetouan and stayed the night there.
but i am quite familiar with travelling around morocco and europe. but as you say, you speak pretty good spanish and french which i dont!! so we all have advantages that we can put to use to enjoy seeing the world!
