I have travelled to Aachen a couple of times by car and that is the easiest.

From Enschede take the A35 highway East and cross the german border.
Take the A31 Autobahn South. The first part is rather quiet and you can travel fast.
At the end keep direction Köln (Cologne)
Take the Autobahn 42 West at Kreuz oberhausen
Take Autobahn 57 South at Kreuz Kamp
Take Autobahn 44 South at Kreuz Holz
Take Autobahn 4 West at Kreuz Aachen and exit where you want to go into Aachen

With public Transport take the train from Enschede to Maastricht.
Depending of the time of day travelling via Utrecht is faster.
For the last pasrt take the Hermes bus 420 to Aachen from the Maastricht train station.

Thanks for your quick reply. I will take the public transport. Do I need to buy the tickets in advance? There will be three people in my group. Regards.

You can also consider traveling through Germany (e.g. Enschede -> Munster -> Koln -> Aachen). It looks like it is a little faster, and you don't need to take a bus. See http://www.bahn.de

www.bahn.de shows that it is possible to travel from Enschede to Munster to Koln to Aachen in about four and a half hours. Reservation is required from Koln to Aachen. Alternatively, if I travel through Dortmund, only one change is required, but it takes 45 minutes more time. There is a second alternative as well. Unfortunately, however, this website does not say how much the journey will cost. I have a feeling that although the travel through Maastricht may take a little more time, it could be much cheaper. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

It is probably more expensive to go through Germany. On the Bahn-site is no price indication for international tickets, only for domestic. A ticket from Munster to Aachen costs between EUR 29,- and 45,-. The latter is the ICE, which requires reservation costs. My guess is that a ticket from Enschede to Munchen will cost about EUR 10,- .
Which means that travelling via Germany with the ICE is the fastest, but costs more, about EUR 55,-.

Taking the Dutch side will cost Euro 33.30 single way per person with a travel time of 5 to 6 hours (depending on your departure time).
