San Sebastián just a beginner...

Hi there!

I will be flying from Toronto to Bilbao in a month. The purpose of my trip is to explore the Basque region, learn Spanish, get to know the people and to investigate some possibilities for legal stay and employment. So far my on-line search for accommodation and additional information for my stay hasn't been so successful, and I begin to feel a little bit worried. Last year I did fly-and-drive throughout the Costas, but there was so much information in English and the rest was easy.
I would be extremely grateful for your feedback, please share your thoughts, recommendations and maybe some first hand experiences.

Thanks in advance !

The Basque land would not be the best place to learn Spanish.

Maybe not, but it seems to me that almost all Basques speak Spanish and they will almost always address you in Castilian if you make your limitations clear.

And, oh boy, am I limited !!! LOL

I've been looking at some options for accommodations in San Sebastian and Bilbao and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend one particular area over another, and also under what names are they normally listed.

What would you recommend for someone looking to stay in a busy /but not overwhelming/ place in close proximity to some of the main streets and/or point of interest. Thanks !
