Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a place in Africa to learn French. Does anyone know of any places that offer short-term (intensive) courses? Thanks! Marly

Where specifically in Africa? Africa is a pretty big place. In South Africa there are language schools, I did French 1 at the Johannesburg(Wits) University Language School. So you can pretty much do it there and there is also the French Acaedmy or something.

Would be easier to learn French language in Belgium, instead of Africa. Unless you want to combine the continent and the language learning process.
If so, west africa would be the best (Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin or Niger).

Bonjour,

I am just back from chad which was one of the most interesting and inexpensive places I have ever been but it is very third world.. I loved it.. three months there.. I was working for an american corporation and hired someone for about 100.00 usd per month to tutor me in french.. by the way the guy also acted as interpreter in five languages and acted as body guard.. I would be happy to help you. this is a very uncocventional way to go about things but a great way to learn.

Hi Everyone!
Thanks for the replies! To be more specific; I am looking for a Francophone country as it is a lot easier to learn a language that way. Cultural experience is also one of the reasons :-) I actually grew up in Burkina Faso and am now looking for a place for my boyfriend to learn French, before possibly moving to the continent. :-)

Mike, I'd definitely be interested in hearing more about your experiences and any suggestions you might have. I will send you an email seperately.

thanks again all :-)
