Hello there,

I am not being idle i have searched the site, but nobody actually says, yes i went with this company and they were fantastic. So is there a company who does wonderful tours to the pantanal. If so please share.

i went to the pantanal in april and booked with a place called pousada caiman.
itīs a lodge where all guides are either graduates in tourism or biologists.
the place runs a conservation center for giant macaws aswell and itīs a very good place to view the pantanal.

itīs not the cheapest place but the standard of the hotel is very good and the guides are very knowledeable.

i actually heard some pretty bad reports about greentrack.

We had an excellent experience with Pantanal Expeditions
( www.pantanalexpeditions.com ) Douglas, the owner, specializes in bringing people to locations in the heart of the central Pantanal long from the Capital cities of Campo Grande and Cuiabá. We didnīt see another foreign tourist during the entire duration of our trip to the Pantanal (10 days) nor in the 4 days extra we spent going to an archeological site in the mountains overlooking Coxim, MS.

heard lots of problems with this company, met unsatisfied travellers complaining of stolen cameras, money and other obejcts from tourists. the girl wich is responsible for the office in campo grande Rachel told us that the owner called murilo is not there to solve any problems, but only to receive the money. she was tired of problems and would quit working for the jerk. than we decided to take eecological expediton wich was another disapoint situation cause the guides have drinking problems and delivered nothing but cachaca.

i know two people who were on a tour with murillo where he was the guide.
he was constantly drunk and was hitting on all the young girls in the group eventhough his parents in law were on the tour too.

they said it was so embarrising to be there and they practically had no guide cause he was drunk and more interested in getting the young girls drunk too than in guiding.

murillo just send me an angry mail and i replied in a plotie way and explained myself and why i wrote what i did and offerd an apology if it was the wrong murillo we were talking about.

since he didn't write me back i guess we are talking about the murillo who has been ruining the reputation of the pantanal tours for more than 15 years.

i do not work for any company in the pantanal, but i have been there several times and was once there for quite a while because of a girlfriend.
it was back then that i learned about the things i wrote in previous postings.

I just returned to Oz from South America. I spent just under 2 weeks in the Pantanal on tours associated with the company EcoVerde. I met a couple of their guides on my trip. I am an Ecotourism student, and tend to be quite critical of tour guides. However, i felt right at home with these guys. It was all small numbers and quality experience. I would definately recommend them- even in wet season! You can find ecoverde on the Web. Joel Souza is the guy that runs it all, he's very friendly and ever-willing to help. I hope, whoever you choose, you have an awsome time. I did ;0)
