| Arequipa | From La Paz to Colca Canyon? Posted: Wed May 24, 2006 01:50 PM UTC
We'll be departing La Paz and heading to Colca Canyon. Does anyone know if the shortest (or easiest) way to Colca Canyon is through Puno and Arequipa? We want to avoid back-tracking, but then again, you often arrange the easiest trips out of central locations like Arequipa.
Thanks in advance! |

Hi,we did it through Puno but on an organised tour.Even saying that it was difficult.Train is an experience from Puno-Cusco.Don't rely it being on time.

We are in Arequipa now and heading to the canyon tomorrow by bus. It is definitely easy from here! 3-day trekking tours are about $40 and 2-day bus trips are $20 with lodging. We will try to do the treks on our own and stay in Cabanaconde a couple nights then the hotsprings at Chivay. Good luck...
