Erm.......do you mean academically (ok, as far as I am aware, but not one of the 'top' universities) or socially (no idea, but most unis have lots going on) or physically (modern buildings)?
Lincoln is lovely though!

pretty much anything actually.
I am attempting to exchange there next semester but they've taken 12 weeks so far and haven't got back to me yet.
I wanted to know about:
Academically
Administratively
Student-wise
Physically
Resource-wise
etc...

There are a few problems in UK unis at the moment (the lecturers are v unhappy with their pay) so things are a bit iffy. Also, it's now slap bang in the middle of the exam season, which may be why you haven't heard yet. I'd give them a poke though.........12 weeks is too long (unless they gave you a deadline reply date which is further away). Perhaps a phone call (if it's not too expensive) or email?

I can just say that it's not one of the top universities but supposedly perfectly OK.
Physically, it is quite centrally located, along the river. Built only a bit more than a decade ago if I'm not mistaken. In any case on a former industrial site that the city has spent millions to clean up.

Thanks for the information.
The deadline they gave me was actually 6 weeks ago and I have been continually emailing them for the past 5 to no avail. I am actually contemplating withdrawing my application because our semester in Australia has one week left before holidays but we start back in a month, I had intended to leave in about 7 weeks from now but I won't have enough time soon. All the tours of Europe I wanted to do have since been booked out and I'm down to my very last option. I'm really disappointed that they haven't told me yet. I may have to write a bad review of Lincoln University for my travel pages! Still, fingers crossed.

Sounds like an admin mess-up to me, but may be linked to the problems I mentioned above. Really sorry your plans have been affected; I remember answering your forum questions. Phone them. Be (politely) stroppy and explain why you really must have an answer (assuming there isn't a tiny bit of print somewhere which says 'if you do not hear from us by 'x'/ within 6 weeks your application was unsuccessful').

RE: University Posted: Fri June 16, 2006 12:23 AM UTC
It is a very new university, consequently it has yet to establish a reputation. Probably as a result of this it has a very poor rating, according to the annual survey undertaken by the U.K's leading quality Sunday newspaper it was ranked at only 110th out of 119 universities in the U.K.
Although Lincoln is a pleasant enough market town ot would not be viewed by many, including most of its inhabitants, as a college town. There would not be a great deal to do and the place is pretty isolated in the middle of a large flat dull county.
To be honest i would have real reservations about going to this place.
You can find the full details of the survey here;

Re: University Posted: Wed April 25, 2007 02:23 PM UTC
Hey!
I currently live in Lincoln and study at the university. In spite of what everybody says, I like it here. First of all, it's really pretty, with a cool cathedral and castle, lots of shops and loads of bars and pubs. From what I hear from locals, the city has changed a lot during the past 10 years, there is really quite a lot to do. And besides, cities like Nottingham or York aren't far away, close enough for a day trip. The uni doesn't have a reputation yet, true, but in my opinion that's only because it's so new, only 10 years. The library is great, although not 24/7. Lectures and seminars are quite well organised, as is the whole university. I'm quite surprised that they didn't get back to you, they are usually very efficient. But true, it is exam time at the moment, so they are really busy. If it would help, I could find out for you who's responsible for your course so you can contact him or her directly. Any other questions, just let me know. Cheers

Penguin, this was a question from last year :) Welcome to VT by the way!
Oh, and Lincoln has certainly gone through changes just in the last decade.

Hi Doro!
Actually, I've already been and come back home again! The forum questions for the less popular pages tend to hang around for a while though. I had a great time at Lincoln Uni too - I would have stayed longer but they didn't have the subjects that I needed.
