Santiago de Compostela What to do

I have the choice of visiting santiago or santander in October for three nights. With regard to sightseeing/walking, do you think there will be enough to occupy me during my stay in either place? Thanks Geoff

Regarding Santiago, 3 days aren't too much, since there is a lot to see, starting from the magnificent Cathedral.
Being Santiago an universty city there i also a nice nightlife.
If you're interested in the countryside, just out of Santiago there are nice places, and the coast isn only one hour away, with magificent views.
You could also take a look to my VT pages about santiago and galicia

Cheers

Hello,

My advice would be to go to Santiago. It's a beautiful city with lots to do so you won't get bored. The Modern Art museum is brilliant, as is the cathedral and the virtual santiago tour. You can spend hours wandering about the medieval streets and churches sampling the superb tapas and wine, and you shouldn't miss the food market.

The Galician countryside is stunning and Santiago is easily situated to go walking in the countyside or take a day trip to the Rias Baixas, the very chilled seaside resort of O ' grove or another medieval town Pontevedra.

I have been to Santander also but apart from the seafood restaurants at the harbour there wasn't much else to make me want to stay. The Picos DE Europa are nearby and are amazing but my choice would be Galicia every time.

Enjoy your trip whatever you decide.
