| Región de Atacama | Salta to San Pedro de Atamaca Posted: Fri May 19, 2006 06:13 PM UTC
Hello everyone,
I saw in an earlier forum that there is a bus from Salta to San Pedro de Atamaca, and I was just wondering around how long the trip takes? Thanks, Jess |

Was just there 6 weeks ago. The service we used took just over 12 hours with an included lunch (nothing fancy) and a brief problem with the bus. Left at like 7 am and arrived at town center at dark. The customs/immigration process is the big pain and definite variable. I swear the San Pedro checkpoint was one of the worst in Chile and that´s saying a lot. Hand inspected luggage and everyone had to get their stamp before they would start with the luggage process. Really not THAT bad but after the long bus ride all you want is a shower and a decent meal. Try Milagro for dinner. Had some great meals and drinks there. Great owner, real character (Cesar) and as far as we could tell the lowest priced 'specials' menu in town. Try the veggie lasagna - I loved it - and I am a big meat eater.
Maybe a bit more than you wanted? Take care, Scott
