Hi All

Any advice for us... older couple, driving from Gdansk (via the Pol ferry from outside Stockholm) to Ostrava in Czechia...Mileage and times, and maybe places to stay on the way that are not too pricey, assuming that its a long enough trip to need a stop. Any other bright suggestions welcome. This is a first time so ALL advice eagerly looked forward to.. Cheers

This is one of the best quality road in Poland(at least from Lodz to Ostrawa distance)- but it means that others are worse quality, but expect heavy traffic . There is a lot of motels alongsiede.Intersting cities: Torun (but the road is not goin through it), Lodz has something inside, Black Madonna pilgrimige monastery in Czestochowa, Pszczyna palace, Cieszyn, and Jura or Wyzyna Krakowsko Czestochowska- natural beauty park between Czestochowa and Siewierz roughly- here should be some agrotourist not pricey places to sleep.

Thanks so much for your Mappy suggestion I didnt know about the site and its wonderful...now realise we were going the wrong route totally. Now just need to figure out how to work the map a bit better and print some out. Wonder where it says to take ferries, are their sites for the local ferries anywhere/ Cheers

It looks like the best route now will be via Wroklaw...will it be alright for us to drive slower than all the maniacs...? I get a bit scared speeding...Thanks for the info.

Gdansk- Ostrava through Wroclaw- It is not so good solution- pretty far away (in my opinion).Go via '1' (Gdansk-Lodz- Cieszyn-Ostrawa) and drive your speed and it should be all right.
