| Curitiba | Portuguese Classes Posted: Wed May 17, 2006 04:34 PM UTC
Hello!
I will be traveling to Curitiba at the end of May and hope to take a couple of weeks of Portuguese classes. I would appreciate any recommendations for economical Portuguese tutors or institutes. About how much should I expect to pay for an hour of private instruction? Thanks! Rosie |

Hey Rosalita - I guess you would be Rosalinha in Portuguese!
I would try the Federal University in Curitiba - UFPR - most of the federal uni's offer a course called Portugues para estrangeiros - p. for foreigners and I've heard they are quite good, though I've never been in one myself and they might not have them for such a short period - it's a good place to start though - at the top! I could not find a link for it, but you might check the UFPR webpage and email them. Another place to look would be to call the hostel when you get there - usually someone who speaks english at the counter when i've been in (41) 3024-4024 Jeff - PP

Hi Rosie,
I'm an american living in Curitiba. Jeff is right. The Federal University is a good place to take classes. I took a immersion course there this past summer and it was great. But I think they are in mid session right now. Classes there cost a little over R$300 for a 60 hour course. Feel free to contact me for more tips about Curitiba. Chris
