| Ottawa | sounds silly but...make out spots? Posted: Tue May 16, 2006 08:20 PM UTC
Hey All,
My fiance is coming into to town and I want to take him to all the romantic spots in ottawa... any suggestions? I have lived here for 17 years but don't go beyond my home area (east end) very much. Any nice look outs and hideaways? somewhere we can be totally alone (usually) and no one would care what we did i.e picnic'd in the middle of the night or just watched the stars etc... thanks! (I am 100% positive everyone has a favourite "make out" spot! ;-) ) |

Hire a boat and have a day on the river.

Gee been a long time since I went to a "make out" spot in Ottawa.... late 70s! I think in those university days, I went to Carleton, we went up around Hog's Back and walked along the canal. However, don't know if it is safe these days or where you can go nowadays! Always nice to go a cross to Gatineau Park too... surely find a nice secluded spot there!

It's been a long time...but Lynda Lane, in the Playfair Park area used to be a good spot....it may have changed now.
The Gatineau Hills can be private.... Have fun where ever you end up!

Go to the waterfalls at Hogsback - there's nice rocks there you can sit on and relax. Also, if you're downtown, take a walk along the Rideau Canal in the evening - very beautiful and it's safe as there's big street lamps lighting the walkways up. See my Ottawa pages or email if you have questions! :)

I had a list written but I can't find it. Here are some key target zones ;)
- On top of the cliff with the Jacques Cartier(?) statue. Dance to no music on the stage and then kiss like there is no tomorrow. - Behind the Museum of Civilization!!! Top rated zone. It can get cold and that's when you get her to hold your arm. - On the Quebec side at the pier on the right of Alexandra Bridge (the bridge near the NAG) as you go to Gatineau. You can drive all the way up to the benches on the pontoon where the boats are anchored. Most of these are @ night, by the way and they have been safe each time I have been there. Hope this helps! OP

Hogs Back Park located in the West End of Ottawa is a gorgeous place. Also I recommend the Gatineau Hills. There is a place up there, I believe its Sir John A Macdonalds old stomping ground and it is just gorgeous. Really breathtaking. I'll try to find the website for you, I was there years ago.
A nice little restaurant that is relatively cheap is Moxie's in the East End. I found it pretty romantic when I went. Have fun in Ottawa!
