There are tons of camping sites in and around the Ring of Kerry. Just Google Ring of Kerry Camping. It's so beautiful there... have a great trip.

Geez, a ton of memories come back!
My boyfriend and I went to Ireland without enough money and ended up in Killarney camping. Problem was, when you get off the bus from Dublin to Killarney, there isn't any apparent camping anywhere in sight. In fact, they drop you at a shopping mall outside of town, so, as dusk started to fall, we were traipsing about in the village still looking for the woods, much less a camping spot. There wasn't any camping in the wilderness near the bus stop. We ended up spending the week behind a football pitch across from a church at the edge of the national forest.
It worked out pretty well, except that it was illegal (a tad nerve-wracking)and the entire site turned into a swamp after it rained. Every time we went into town for supplies we looked like swamp monsters. At one point, we went into a coffee shop which happened to have a shower in their bathroom (pretty bizarre) so we were able to clean up a bit.
Nobody seemed remotely suspicious about us, and we didn't encounter anybody else in our section of the woods.
Real bonding experience.
