Newcastle upon Tyne Docks(port) to railway station
Posted: Tue May 16, 2006 05:37 AM UTC
We will be arriving from Norway by Ferry in September and want to go from there to Edinburgh by train.
Can we walk to the station from the port (docks)? If not, are there taxi’s readily available to take us to the station?

The Ferry is around 6 mile to the station for Edinburgh,in Newcastle if arriving on the DSDS ferry there bus will be available and it stops outside the station.

If you want a taxi book Blue line 0191 2626666 from the entrance hall or mobile cost is now cheaper then the metro which is a good 30 minutes walk up the hill to the station at Percy Main

Just to confirm-the best way is to use the Bus service from the Ferry Port at North Shields, it takes about 30 mins and takes you directly to Newcastle Central Station. When catching the train to Edinburgh try to grab a seat on the right hand side of the train so you can enjoy the FABULOUS views of the Northumbria Coast - Holy Island, Berwick Railway Bridge, Bass Rock in Scotland-have a GREAT Trip, best wishes
