if you're going to be in Recife, as your other post mentions, you might want to check the schedule at Musique (Rua Tenente Joao Cicero #202). When I was there in November, Deacon Jones was going to be playing there and the show got a half page write up in the Sunday paper.
However, I think the half page was due to the fact that blues is a novelty and not such a well known or popular music form in Brazil (at least according to all the Brazilians I've ever asked--that's quite a few both in the US and many cities in Brazil----and also indicated by the lack of shows or clubs featuring homegrown or foreign blues players or bands in all the times I've visited various cities). Pagode, Axe, Samba and, Forro are some of the popular forms in Brazil with maybe some interest in jazz or classical in Sao Paulo or a few other large cities with culture. A Portuguese lesson: "Sou blueseiro." (I'm a blues man.) Have fun......
