| Genoa | Advice on finding room wanted Posted: Sun May 14, 2006 05:30 AM UTC
Hi. My daughter, who is 15, will be arriving in Genoa from Australia on 1st June, and starting an intensive 3 month Italian course on 5th June. We have joined easystanza, but most of the rooms are older students sharing together. Does anyone know how we might locate a room with a family (single or two parents with at least 1 child), as this would be more suitable for a young girl on her own, and would be better for learning the language faster.I phoned one from easystanza, but room had already gone. We will be joining her at the end of the course and travelling around Italy and Europe.

Who is your daughter doing the program with? Most schools will arrange homestay options, and if they don't do anything "officially" often a staff member will know someone who is reliable and likes having international students stay with them. Avoid any "posto letto" situations- these are shared bedrooms! Yikes!

Yes I agree that asking the school is best. Parts of Genoa are not very nice and it's not a place for a 15yo girl alone! Definitely don't take anything in the Old Town, even the locals don't go there at night!
If the school doesn't organise it, maybe another institution which has a school there - I'm not sure if there's Omnilingua or the British Institute, might suggest something. Good luck!
