Looking for a few days close to Bilbao at the beginning of June....

What is the best place to stay (on the coast/beach)... looking for close to bilbao and not too small...

Possibly a little lively and fun... and possible hotels and how to get there by tube/train or bus

Zarauth(Zarauz) is nearer San Sebatian than Bilbao but has rail connections with both and is a resort in its own right with a large beach. The Bilbao Metro to Plentxia goes past several small resorts like Algorta but these places are on the estuary rather than the coast. Bilbao is the liveliest place so it might be best to stop there for the evenings and explore the coastline in the day.

Bilbao has some beaches that can be reached by metro. The first ones, in Getxo near metro Algorta, are in the estuary. They are quite beautiful and have little swell. Getxo has 80 000 inhabitants and is quite lively.
The next beaches, near metro Larrabasterra, are in Sopelana, a small town, and there's a lot of night live at the beaches. These are totally facing to the sea.
Finally, at the last metro station, there's Plentzia, a beautiful town with a familiar beach inside a little bay.
