Dear Travellers,

I will be goin to Hangzhou next month for atleast 3 mnths for the first time. Can anyone please let me know what is the usual cost of a small 1 Bedroom apartment. I dont want an expensive one, since I will be stayin alone.

I 'll be workin in Tech-park, and my office timings will be very early in the mornin. how is the transport connectivity (Buses, or tubes whatever is there in Hangzhou) around 4-5 am??

Thanks for your answers. Hope to see u there!!

Hangzhou RE: House Rent & transport??

Hmm... a few things come to mind about accommodation in Hangzhou.
Firstly, in my experience it is impossible (or at least nearly) to find a flat for rent for just 3 months (I know people who have tried, and failed), the minimum accepted is 6 months. But if you do find somewhere to rent for 3 months (or 6 months, someone else staying the remaining 3 months) then the rent will be higher than say for 6-12 months. As far as I know, there are no service apartments here either.

Secondly, the rent level really depends on the area of the city you will be in. in the city centre, and especially close to the lake, rents are much higher than towards the outskirts. But I haven't been looking for one bedroom flats so I couldn't even tell you the rent level around where I live (centre), because apparently in my area, there are mainly 2-3 bedroom flats. :( Friends renting towards the outer parts of the city (still decently close to the lake and city centre) pay in the regions of 3000CNY/month for a three bedroom flat.

There are several high-tech parks here, but in general, I have understood that connections at least to some of the parks are not all that good, taxis are impossible to get from the parks to go back into the city and buses don't run very frequently, however I don't have any personal experience.

Depending on your success getting info thorugh this forum, you can also try out www.hangzhouexpat.com.

Good luck!
