Thank you for the replies craic. yup, i think i would like to have a private bathroom. I had an impression that the central areas are most accessible to many shopping malls, and thus i selected the above hotels.. Anyway, may i know whether the corus hotel is near to any shopping malls or theatres? looking from the map, it seems to be quite far. :)

Book through www.wotif.com - I use them all the time for Sydney hotels. You can only book 10 days or so in advance, and they get some great deals. Personally, I would go for a decent hotel (about A$90-130 with wotif) in the Darlinghurst/Potts Point area. Its close to King's Cross station, its the best place to hang out at night and not that far from the Harbour (you can walk in 20 minutes or 2 stops on train). Y on the Park for example is just as far out from the Harbour.

I've stayed at Morgans apartments (A$120) on Victoria St and L'Otel (A$99) through wotif. Liked both although nothing flash and would certainly use them again. Point is that the area has character - lots of bars, cafes, restaurants. Stay in the city and you are 'in the city' - either lots of office blocks or brand new hotels/bars/restaurants round Darling Harbour that to my mid don;t have the atmosphere of Darlinghurst/Paddington.

Enjoy - and good hunting
Keith

If you want to be central, Pacific International Hotel isn't in the city. There's one way out west of Sydney and another called the MANLY Pacific Int Hotel, which is in a seaside suburb a ferry ride along the harbour.

Hello
I would recommend Cremorne Point Manor. It's a small hotel in cremorne which is on the north shore. The hotel is a short walk from the ferry wharf. It's very quiet and peaceful and the surrounding are just beautiful. You should rellay give it a try. the address and phone number are on my Sydney page

I have checked out www.wotif.com and saw a number of great deals over. Anyway, is it safe to trust this types of websites and whether we need to be a member to get the deal?
