About as safe as any place i Europe, I guess.
Safety is not a big issue over here, you know.

The mayor physical danger in Grenoble are cars, just like in most towns around the globe. And maybe an occasional piuckpocket. Grenoble is also one of the hottest cities in France during peak summer months, so beware of a heat stroke (no joke).
