| Monte-Carlo | Monte carlo to Milan advice Posted: Sun May 7, 2006 12:14 AM UTC
We are on a ship that will dock in MonteCarlo in June. We have 6 days and a car to make our way to Milan for our flight home. We will have visited Portofino and St. Tropez on the ship. Any advice on how to spend our time?

Hi,
If you would like more seaside areas to visit;then maybe the Cinque Terre would be nice. This is close to Portofino, but has a different feel. If you would like to go inland in Italy, then maybe the Italian lake district of Lake Maggiore, or Lake Como. Both of these areas are close to Milan. All of these areas are an easy drive from Monte Carlo. Buon Viaggio!!!

You will probably have seen enough sea by the time you dock, so maybe try heading North from Monte Carlo into the Alps. You could stay a night or two in Chamonix and take the cable car up to the top of Mont Blanc (the highest mountain in Europe), maybe visit Geneva too, travel along the Rhone Valley, up over the Simplon Pass and then spend a bit of time in Baveno or Stresa on Lake Maggiore. From there it's only about an hours drive back to Milan. I've been to these places on different occasions and the scenery is spectactular.
