| Siracusa | siracusa Posted: Sat May 6, 2006 11:15 AM UTC
Hi. Im planning on travelling to Siracusa for the first time and I wanted to ask if anybody knows of any bed and breakfast or cheap accomodation that might be located near Hotel Panorama 33, V. Necropoli Grotticelle. The reason Im asking is because I plan to stay there for a course I am attending but I am thinking of taking my family along except they cant stay with me so I would like to find some place nearby where they can stay and we can explore the town together. Also how far is Oritgia from this place? I tried looking up maps but was completely lost! Thanks

There's a wonderfully useful tool called ViaMichelin (type it in google)which not only gives you an accurate map of a town or region, but you can also put in 2 points and it will tell you how to get there (by car or foot) and how far apart they are.
So type in Ortigia in one part and Via Necropoli Grotticelle in the other. Good luck! It's a while since I've been to Siracusa so I can't suggest any hotels, but I do remember the mosquitoes drove me crazy at night, so make sure your place has insect screens.

Enjoy a great city! I only made a daytrip so I cannot recommend a hotel but wherever you are, your family will enjoy being in Ortygia with the cathedral, little aquarium etc. and which is where everything happens in the evenings with restaurants and general socialising. Definately the nicest area for children - less traffic fumes than in the rest of the city too since it is mostly small alleys rather than the boulevards in the rest of town...
