| Nairobi | Hotel Heron in Nairobi? Cost of car & driver for a day? Posted: Fri May 5, 2006 10:00 PM UTC
My wife and I are visiting Nairobi May 12 - 14. A travel agent recommendeds the Hotel Heron as reasonably priced (US$70/night), safe, clean, etc. Can anyone tell us more? Any suggestions for good/safe/clean hotel at $70 - $125 per night. I have already tried the Panafric and Fairview. Both are fully booked.
Anyone have recent price info for a car & driver for a full day and evening? Thanks, Tuck |

Great choice of Hotel.
It is recently refurbished with a nice restaurant, spacious rooms and best of all very friendly staff. I think it is a great choice on bed and breakfast. Car rental-Lot's of open options whilst in Nairobi. If you have some good time, wait till you get here and see what you are getting. You have the option of self drive or chauffeur driven. The latter of course depends on how experienced he/she is in terms of attraction spots in the country. Mode of transport I would say also depends on where you intend to visit. Small saloon cars would obviously be great inconvenience to major parks like Amboseli, Masai Mara, Samburu, Tsavo because of the road condition. However, to the Rift Valley lakes and other easily accessible places to visit-excellent. Kenya is a beautiful country with so much to see.

| Nairobi | RE: Hotel Heron in Nairobi? Cost of car & driver for a day? Posted: Wed January 3, 2007 10:37 AM UTC It was very recently renovated and its right next the the Criminal Investigation Department - CID headquarters (very safe) and only 5mintues drive from town. A reliable taxi services are very expensive at U$100+ a full day hire. I suggest you hire a selfrive car hire for U$30 or add a few bucks and get a chauffeur/guide - unless you've driven in Cario or New York. I should know I live in Nairobi, Rgds. Nanikama@hotmail.com
