Ruinas Chichén-Itzá Visiting the ruins in June/July
Posted: Fri May 5, 2006 02:35 PM UTC
Has anyone here ever visited the ruins (CHichen Itza, Uxmal, Tulum, Coba)in late June early July? What will the weather be like? Hot I am sure, but I am from Florida so am wondering if it will be about the same temps?
I know its the start of their rainy season but once again is it like Florida where it rains once a day for an hour maybe less then clears up again or does it rain all day long?
Also should I be worried about mosquitoes? Are there lots of them, etc.
Thanks for your help.

I was there in July, it was hot but if it was worth it .the hottest is Chichen Itza so I suggest that you go in the morning( than you will also avoid big groups). for Cobe it is no problem because it is in rain forest so you have shadow all the time, Tulum is not as hot as
Chichen Itza because it is next to see. for Uxmal I could not say because I was not there but I think it is similar to Chichen Itza. about the rain it like in Florida come and go,there are not a lot of mosquitoes, so don t worry. I really have great time there and hope I will enjoy it too

Hi
I was there beginning of August and to me it was REALLY hot! When we went to Chichen Itza we took a large umbrella to get some shade as there is none there and it is such an open plan site. I did get bitten by some mosquitos too, but took plenty of spray out with me wherever I went so it wasn't too bad. Have a great time, Chichen Itza is fantastic!! We were there for two weeks and it only rained once for 10 mins during the day and in the middle of the night too.

Yep, as the other posting said, hot and humid. You wont find many differences between weather in Florida.

Chichen Itza has less room to protect from the sun, so caps, hats, umbrella if you want, sun block, mosquito repelent and plenty of water is a must bring!

Weather? it might rain in the afternoon for one hour, for that reason you will feel super hot for an hour or so, then it will be fresh again at night.

Try www.yucatantoday.com for more information... that was my tour guide there.

I was there end of June 2005 and it did rain quite a lot. Hot and humid. Yes, the mosquitos are bad, especially in Uxmal - total nightmare, but that depends on how rainy in gets. I heard vitamin B in your body is a natural remedy - look up how you can get some if that.

Yes, I agree, mosquitos can be a nightmare.. I had my sun block, hat and a mosquito repelent everyday..

Traveling could be a bad experience or a good adventure depending on how you see things. She's from Florida, and weather, fauna, vegetation and insects can be similar, i have heard that from other tourists visiting. So, i guess hot wont be too hot for her.. probably for people from Canada then it could be really really hot and humid.. but i can't tell that. Absolutely depends on the person.

All the places where it's very sunny it rains and is near the beach has mosquitos.. they arrived first.

I am sorry that your trip was a nightmare because of them. I hate them once, but i learned to coexist in such an extrem enviroment. I can conclude, there are special destinations that can be a big no or a big yes, depending on everybody's mind.
