Posted: Fri May 5, 2006 09:05 AM UTC
hi all group of 6 of us had booked cabin in ayers rock resort but now a friend wit a major phobia for spiders and all things creepy crawly has said she refuses to stay in the cabin for fear of insects etc. can anyone give me some reassurance on this situation in the cabins?
Other alternatvie is to stay in the outback pioneer hostel dorms? has anyone stayed here? what are toilts, showers, sheets etc like?

Thanks

hi !!
i stayed last july in pioneer hostel , i didn't have any problem..., i didn't catch any spiders, or creepy-crawly, and i think it's quite good hostel, maybe the room is a little bit dusty, because there's sand everywhere outside, but it's ok.
have a good time!!!
ciao Luca

You really don't have to be scared about insects and spiders in the cabin as it is usually cleaned before you get in. It's smart to check your bed before you get in and check your shoes before you where them. I slept outside in a swag when I was there and didn't see a single bug.

HI! We "meet" again.

The Resort is plenty clean. I realised that plenty of folks have a fear of Aussie spiders. Is there some urban legends I am missing out?

No fear - the dorms are clean....as well as the cabins. Review of the cabins can be found on my VT Uluru page.

Have fun in Uluru!
