Hello, Going to Hoi An around October 1 of this year. Does anybody have an idea on the lantern date for this period of time ?

Well it's (mid autumn festival) on on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, wife is asleep so not been able to get that into our calender, but sure you can find on the net

Every 15thday of Lunar month Hoian people have lantern night. Many lantern appear on Thu Bon river, Which looks so wonderful. So wait until October 6th (15th day of 8th month Lunar year)if you want to see this special night.

I will be in Hoi An on 20-24 July this year, can you please advise what the lantern dates are for July and whetehr we will see this while in Hoi An?

The lantern festival or mid autumn festival is once a year, this year its apparently on Oct 8th

When developing plans to preserve their town's ancient character, Hoi An residents decided to revive the practice of using coloured lanterns. Starting in the fall of 1998, one night each month is declared a "lantern festival". On the 15th day of each lunar month, residents on Tran Phu, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Le Loi and Bach Dang streets switch off their lights and hang cloth and paper lanterns on their porches and windows. Television sets, radios, street lights and neon lights are turned off.

Hansyen is absolutely right. Hoian have 1 lantern date avery 15th day of lunar month.
In July, Lantern date is on the night of 9th July. If you visit Hoian from 20-24, you miss it. Or wait until August 8th, the next Lantern date.
Take your choice.

you're kidding! this year 2006 in August the festival isn't August 15th? It's the 8th??? That's so confusing (and disappointing). Sigh... well, glad I read this.

) and want to fix my mistake.
The Lantern Night is monthly activity of Hoian government every night of 14th lunar calendar. This is exactly official information.
Then in this July 2006, it will be in the evening of July 8th.
In this August 2006, it'll be in August 7th.
September 2006: September 6th.
October 2006: October 5th.==> This is the most special lantern night because of the Full moon festival in Lunar Calendar.
November 2006: November 4th
December 2006: December 4th
