| Bolzano | Visiting Bolzano, Italy Posted: Mon June 9, 2003 09:04 PM UTC
Hi and Shalom:
These are the places and dates we will be traveling in July 2003. July 9, arrive Munich, Germany, travel to Bolzano, Italy area, stay 2 nights. July 11, arrive Ferrara, Italy, stay 3 nights. July14, arrive Rijeke, Croatia, stay 1 night. July 15, arrive Plitvice, Croatia, stay 2 nights. July 17, arrive Zagreb, Croatia, stay 3 nights. July 20, arrive Ljubljana, Slovenia, stay 2 nights. July 22, arrive Dovje, Slovenia, stay 2 nights. July 24, arrive Ardagger, Austria, stay 2 nights. July 26, arrive Munich, Germany, stay 2 nights. July 28, return to Israel (and yes, stay a lot of nights ;O))). Would appreciate any and all suggestions of things to see, things to do, where to stay (we prefer Bed & Breakfast, but have a tight budget of maximum 60 euro for the three of us per night), where to eat, along that route, etc.etc.etc…… We like exceptional scenery, good food, good wine, enjoy cultural events, meeting people and are usually not in a hurry, we take our time to actually “see” and try to experience a country, not only put a check by the name, but we take memories home. So any help would be great. Thanks. Martin, Zohara and Tal |

Bolzano is a fantastic place to visit. I can't tell you much about the hotels at the cheaper range, and Bolzano is not that cheap to eat in either. There is a German style restaurant that shouldn't break the bank and the house wine is acceptable(Cavallino Bianco). If you don't have a car the best thing to see is to travel to Oberbozen by cable car and walk to the earth pyramids (get a map at the cable car station). There are some Bolzano pages on this site with lots of tips.

Hi,
do you have any more days to spare? :) Places you are going to see are all amazing, but if you have another 3-4 days I would HIGHLY suggest that you continue from Rijeka south and visit Zadar and Dubrovnik. Or maybe, stay less in Zagreb and spend two days in Zadar instead. Just my (completely biased!) opinion :)

Hi, I know it's past July 9, but here are a few suggestions for other readers. I went to Bolzano so I could see the Ice Man which is housed in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology. It was a great experience. There's also a great German food stand along the road to Piazza Walther from the train station. They have very cheap and delicious German food.
Please see my Bolzano travel page for more details.
