Ottawa Travel Forum

We are coming for a visit in July this year with two teenagers (16 and 13) and would like best places to go during the day and good family entertainment at night, has anyone any suggestsions?

The science and technology centre is great for teenagers and will keep them entertained for a few hours. It has all kinds of hands on exhibits and experiments.

Ottawa has more museums per capita than anywhere else in Canada, so take advantage of the museums... most of them are excellent.

My recommendations would be to visit the Museum of Civilization (technically in Gatineau which is just across the river), the Canadian War Museum, and the Canada Aviation Museum located to the east of the city. Fantastic museums that teens would love.

The Museum of Civilization is a must for them. They also have IMAX movies at the museum and the kids would love them. Make sure they see the movie with the Dome as it adds to the experience.

There is also an underage dance bar downtown. Not sure if I would want my kids to go there but friends of mine have let there kids go. They do have police around the area but there is always room for trouble when you get a bunch of teenagers together late at night.

There is a big indoor Go Kart track on the Quebec side that many people go to. Both you and the kids would enjoy that.

There are boat tours on the Canal and the Ottawa River that both you and the kids will enjoy. Have a great trip.

Or...going downtown is great...you can always find something awesome to do..the market is fun and you can find tourist centers. Visit the Parlement or walk down Bank street.
