Worth a visit?

Hey everyone!

I'm moving to San Francisco at the end of summer, so I plan to see as much of the southeast before I move.

I've heard a lot about Atlanta, and just want to know if it is worth the 7-hour drive. I enjoy large cities, shopping, architecture, scenery, theme parks etc. In addition, what area(s) should I look for a hotel?

Any comments would be much appreciated.

Go for it. Atlanta has it all. I am suprised that with you living in Florida that you have never been up there. I can't begin to tell you all Atlanta has. Check out www.atlanta.com to get some ideas on what to see and do.

Thanks for the reply!

Do you know how busy Six Flags gets during the summer? In addition, what area would you recommend staying? I will be driving, so an area where hotels do not charge for parking would be great.

Thanks again

Are you going just for six flags or to acually stay a few days in Atlanta? If the latter I suggest you stay at any of the Marriots...they are usually in pretty nice areas/locations and easy to access to the interstate. Take your pick here: http://www.sixflags.com/parks/overgeorgia/Lodging/index.html

Also, it has been quite some time since I have been to six flags (which is now two parks), but I remember it being very crowded in the summer; as much as a 2 hour wait for the more popular rides.
