We are travelling to Cuba in July and as I work in a school I would really like to take some gifts for the children but I am unsure what would be the best to take, bearing in mind my luggage allowance.

I think the best to bring are pencils, crayons, pens, paper and clothing. That's what I brought last time. Don't bring candies coz you don't know if they have proper dental care there.

Toys. They would love ANY toys and even clothes. I took my daughters 'party' and 'disco' clothes that did'nt fit her anymore. If you really want to treat them:- hand-held computer-game toy would be their dream. It was mentioned to us by one of the kids in Moron, a small town we visited on our tours.
I suppose everyone brings pencils, etc - but that is what adults want to give to their kids. If you ask the kids - they would say 'toys'! Colourful Easy reading books would be good too.

I take fishing hooks line and fishing rods (when they were on sale at canadian tire a $40 rod and reel was $10 ) the kids love them. Toys small lego sets, hot wheels,yoyos,water guns,frizbes,gliders. all available from dollar store.Sporting goods ie fishing gear, baseball gear etc if packed seperatly is not counted with your weight of 40 lbs. You can fill a carryon with kids clothes and shoes(Frenchy's for 1.99) They love baseball shirts and hats even used are wanted. Fishing line is hard for them to get,30 to 50 lb. they dont need a rod but would love one. hooks (salt water is best) all round is next, but all are wanted, in sizes 14 to 4/0.Good luck,tight lines, and I know you will enjoy.

We are going to Holguin area, next Monday. i have emailed your firends jcorrales about sheet music, as we are clearing my mother's house and have a lot of sheet musc. I have not had any reply so far from them. I asked if they had any special requests or music they did or did not want especially.
