There are lots of opportunities for doing this in Cuba, simply try approaching a percussionist in a band who is playing. If you only have 2 weeks in the country you may find it time consuming to get the right person, and then find the time and venue for the lessons. TakeYourTime can set music lessons up for you before you go to Cuba so that you will be able to make the most of your time there.
Staying in a casa particular or Cuban homestay is a great way to see and meet Cubans and understand their culture.
