I plan on stopping in Konigssee for about 5 hours on a trip from Garmisch to Salzburg. I enjoy hiking and beautiful scenery. Is the boat trip worth it or too touristy? (or too long?) Is there usually a long wait? (I have a copy of the schedule.) I understand there are rowboats to rent; does anyone know how long would it take to row to St. Bartholomew? Is the hike to Obersee the best hike, or are there better ones? Any other recommendatons for an itenerary? Danke!!

The boat trip is touristy but it is worth it to see the lake. Ther's a decent bar and beer garden at St Bartoloma as well as the monastery/church. I'm not sure if there are any rowing boat landing stsges there so you might not be able to land. if you've only got 5 hours adding a walk in will be difficult. If you can make the time take the Jenner Cable car and walk back down. Or you could walk to Ramsau but both are lengthy hikes.

Speaking of hikes, I love your Garmisch tips! Can't wait to go myself. I'll certainly be going on some of the walks you list there.

If you take the boat ride, speak to the pilot, becouse there is a landing that you can be dropped of on if you want to do some hiking. I'm not sure how long the hike is but it might be something you want to look into.
