Cheap Hotel in the CBD

Hi all!

I am hoping to visit Sydney along with 7 girlfriends in June and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a cheap but nice hotel close to or in the centre of the city. If possible we'd love a 2 bedroom apartment for all 8 of us or two 4 bed hotel rooms. I think we could afford up to $40 or so each a night. If you know of something that would suit us could you please let me know. It would be for 3 nights over a weekend.

Most hotels will only go up to three in a room. An apartment is maybe the answer. Not sure of the prices but the York Apartment Hotel is a good one, just at the southern end of the Harbour Bridge. Another is Mercure Apartments at Darling Harbour.

Can't you book a complete hostel dorm room. So you'll have no weirdo's, it's cheap and you're all together.

Thanks guys!

It looks like the hotels/apartments might be too expensive for us unfortunately. :(

We have thought about staying in a hostel but we did that in Melbourne last year and what looked to be a great place on the internet turned out to be a real dump (without a working bathroom, no kitchen facilities as stated, filthy sheets/floors etc) and we promised not to do that again. Unless someone can recommend a hostel that is actually well kept and worth the money I doubt we'll do that again. ;)

check out the sydney central yha which is a busy yha in the chinatown/haymarket area. good location for the buses and shopping and has good reviews.

I would also recommend checking out the YHA on George St. Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms -- and the price is right! There are several reviews here on VT and I'm sure you can find more online. Good luck!
