Cheap Hotel in the CBD
Posted: Fri April 21, 2006 07:34 AM UTC
Hi all

I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a nice but cheap (< $150 a night) hotel in the CBD of Melbourne for 3 adults? We can only afford up to $50 each a night but would like to be in the CBD area...preferably close to restaurants and/or the Queen Vic Markets (and with public transport nearby). Any ideas??

Thanks in advance! :)

PS Rooms must have an ensuite (for a pregnant ladies' ease) and if possible 3 single beds or queen & single if necessary. :)

Check out Oaks on Collins at wotif.com.au they seem to have some good specials.
Lots of different rooms.

We stay at the Ibis - very comfy, reasonably priced +++, includes breakfast - and a very short stroll to the Queen vic Markets!

I recommend the City Square Motel on Swanston street.

It looks a bit shabby and hidden from the outside, but the newly decorated rooms are actually very nice and clean! they even now feature plasma screens, refrigerator, toaster, water kettle, complimentary bread and jelly (as well as honey and veggimite) and everything else one could fancy.

the hotel is just a few meters from fed suqare and flinders station. rooms are AUD$79.00/night for a double room (with pull out couch for a third person). if you stay 6 nights, you even get the 7th night free!

just walk up swanston on the left side and look for the bright yellow sign syaing "MOTEL".

the adress is 67 swanston street.

Thanks all! We went the weekend before last and ended up staying at the Astoria City Motel - a WotIf deal. :) I'll keep this last one in mind for next time though! :)
