Me and my husband are going to Foz do Iguacu in september for a week and we're staying in a hotel on Av. Jorge Schimmelpfeng, is that a good spot for bars and clubs and is it dangerous to walk in town at night?

i didn´t find that much nightlife in foz apart from restaurants with live music.
they are very fine though if you want nightlife in a quiet way. foz is a caino town so you might find some more flashy nightlife in the big casino hotels. i did not feel unsafe walking around at night there.

I did not find Foz do Iguaco or Puerto Iguazu very interesting for night life. There is much more going on at night on the Brazilian side but as for crime this is what Fodor's guide says, "You may find Puerto Iguazu' preferable to its Brazilian neighbor, Foz do Iguacu, because it's considerably more tranquil and safe (when you go to the Brazilian side, leave your valuables in the hotel and be on alert; crime is more frequent there)......" So just be aware and don't do stupid things such as wearing jewelry, flashing money, because unless you are Brazilians living in England then it will be obvious you are tourists and assumed to have valuables on you. I did find the Grand Hotel and Casino on the Argentine side offered fantastic dining, the local river fish was outstanding, and they also presented caberet shows and the casino was nicely low key.
Septemeber is a great time to visit the falls, it is the end of winter so the weather will be cool and not as many tourist as you have to deal with during the summer months. I went there last September and it had rained for five staight days before I arrived so the falls were spectacular. You can view some photos etc on my travel page. I did go to the Brazilian side one day only to visit the park. The view is better from the Brazil side but I feel the park on the Argentine side offers more opportunities to hike around the falls. They have a very good network of walkways that get you very close or out over the water looking directly down on the falls. Just bring a slicker and a rain cap. You can take a boat ride up to the falls and that is well worth the time and money. As I recall it was $Arg 80 or about $US 26. Have a great trip suerte SAM
