Hi there! I am travelling to Lisbon in August and am going to then travel to Lagos. Is it best for me to travel from Lisbon to Faro and then to Lagos or can I go straight to Lagos from Lisbon? Also, I am then travelling to Seville, Spain, does anyone have any info on buses from Lagos to Seville? Prices, times etc. Thanks!!

It's best if you go directly from Lisboa to Lagos. You see, Lagos in in the western part of Algarve, while Faro is on the eastern part. As for transportation, you can goby train or bus, there is plenty of choices...
From Lagos to Sevilha, there are 2 buses a day, on weekdays.

You will get a bus from Lisbon to Lagos, not sure of prices times etc but both the bus service and train service from Lagos are excellent and very reasonable.
I am fairly sure there is a bus direct from Lagos to Seville or you can get the train to Portimau and change but it is quite easy to get around.
If you have not been to Lagos before, try to allow some time to explore as it is a superb place.

Re your question regarding hostels--sorry can't help with this as I am a pensioner but regarding food, you can get traditional Portuguese food with dish of the day for around €4.75 at Adega de Marina which as the name implies is on the main Avenida opposite the marina or if you want a lunch with wine and coffee we usually pay less than €20 for two of us. Would suggest you book your accommodation in advance as August does get very busy but would also advise you to deal direct with Portuguese if possible. Can put you in touch for apartments but not hostels.
