Hi everyone.

I'm having major problems trying to get a trip to Alexandria sorted.

Firstly apologies if this sounds like a silly question or if i come across clueless.

I am supposed to be going to Alexandria between 19 june and returning by 19 july. I will be staying there for maybe the full month or maybe 3 weeks i am not sure yet, depends on a number of things.

So far i've not been impressed by the package holidays because the maximum length of stay they offer is 14 nights and same with the flight tickets... is there a way to get an open ticket that you can return when you feel like it and once ur purpose of the trip has been met??? i honestly havent a clue. so any help any words of advice etc would be dead helpful to me and much appreciated!!

I have never been to another country before, so i havent a clue where to start and how to go about it.

There are going to be 4 people travelling and we need to get visas I think, not really sure? if so where do i get them from?? (I'm from UK, Manchester).

I don't want the trip to end up being dead expensive, i was hoping someone could give me some advice on what the best and most cost effective way to stay there would be. I don't know anyone there so can not ask a local there and i've done loads of internet searching but not had any luck so far with accomodation, hotels seem to be very expensive so is there an alternative if so what are my options?.

Maybe rent a place, if so what are the prices like and how do i get in contact with lanlords and stuff? would you be able to give me phone numbers or website details where i could have a look and find all this info.

And if ive left some detail out that ive not thought about, then its probably cz its never crossed my mind, so would appreciate information that would be useful.

book direct with egypt air or BA, and then review hotels in Alexandia on here. Once you decide where you want to stay, contact hotel direct and via e-mail and see if they will do a deal.

actually you cant find much on net abt places to stay in other than hotels.
but you can get furnished flat for so low price but it will be far away from the sea and i guess it is ok.
and you can get also a flat in places so near from alex like 15 mins by transportation .
better than this to find a local in alex from hospitalityclub.com it will be much usefull.

abt airlines chick maliev and czech airlines they give lower prices

Alexandria is one of the most visited places in the summer by Egyptians or Arabs. So I beleive in the High season June, July and August staying at a hotel will be very expensive. There is a lot of flats that you can rent in Alexandria, personally I don't know any but I will try to find out. I don't think you will have any problem with your visa you can just buy it in the airport.

hotels will b expensive to stay at during this long period spcially at summer monthes which is a high season here in alex where it is crowded with egyptian & arab ppl
think it is better to rent a flat but the rent various from a district to another and the distance towards or away from the sea(kournish)
u can try also the youth hostel which is cheap & v near to alex university if u will b here for studing or smthg but about luxury ...u know its a youth hostel...but it is a clean place :))

first of all welcome to my lovely city Alexandria. :)
there are alot of things to say about Alexandria but lets start.
I think the cheaper airways is Egypt Airways because if you used Czech or Maliv you should come from those country to Alexandria not directy from England.plus the only the airlines comming to Alexandria is Olympic airlines(Greek), Lufthanza(Germany), KLM(England). otherwise if you used anyone else you will land in Cairo not in Alexandria.

and about staying in somewhere its real easy,I can search for you in the weekly classified newspaper about furnutured flat to stay in,just let me know your budget and the place you want to stay in and let me do the rest for you.

I am stopping in Alex 21.05.06 for a week and have managed to find an apt on the beach front for 690.00 le. If you would likethe telephone no of the guy who owns it email me. It is a 2 bedroom 2 bath apt. Hope this helps
