Photo Shoots in Key West
Posted: Mon April 17, 2006 08:32 PM UTC
I am a photographer and I am considering doing a swimsuit shoot in Key West in June. Does anyone know of any beach particular that is a great location and does not generate alot of people? Do you know of if a permit is needed to shoot there. I appreciate any assistance.

Thank you,

Rainey

Hi!

Used to live down there (and was fashion photographer) :) so I think I qualify...

Try the area around the Casa Marina Resort (it's the largest private Beach in KW)

You could also try "Tranquility Bay Beach House Resort - Marathon"

All the best

Good tip from Iris. Also you may want to explore the area behind the air base. It is very primitive looking and has few bathers albeit mostly nudes.

Cheers

Bahia Honda State Park. Beautiful beaches and little hidaways. Go to my Bahia Honda State Park travelpage:

Here you'll find some pictures of the park/beach.

Make a lunch or a dinner reservation at Little Palm Island, off of Little Torch Key, mile marker 23 or so. If you aren't an overnight guest, you need advance restaurant reservations. You need to reserve the (free) ferry ride to the island, which takes only a few minutes in their private & beautiful ferry. There are no fantastic beaches in Key West. Also, take the Sunset sail on the boat "Danger" Charters, a 65' boat. It is well worth the price, & you get excellent wind & appetizers included. It's perfect for a photo shoot; they take only a small number of passengers each trip. You could also take their snorkeling trip out to the mangroves for beautiful photos. Go to their website. The Weatherstation Inn Bed & Breakfast, www.weatherstationinn.com, can book these excursions for you, & if you stay there, you'll be 2 blocks from where the "Danger" Charter yacht leaves. It departs from behind The Westin Hotel (used to be a Hilton). I took this yacht "Wine & Wind" Sunset Sail & it was by far the best one I've done in Key West; a class act & wonderful owners & a captain that was wonderful & friendly.
