| Netherlands | AMSTERDAM QUEENSDAY APRIL 29 2006 Posted: Mon April 17, 2006 06:25 PM UTC
I noticed many first time travellers are not aware of this year's Queensday celebration on Saturday April 29 (normally April 30).
We Dutchies will celebrate our Queen's birthday on April 29. Do not expect any tourist attraction to be open at normal times and also expect different public transport schedules (and even stations in use). If you come here to celebrate it's OK, but don't expect us being normal. We will be back in business on Monday May 1, when our neighbouring countries do their thing (strikes in France, dancing around the tree in German etc.) Here are some links: Dutch tourist board info: http://www.holland.com/amsterdam/gb/index.html?pag Amsterdam city council info: http://www.amsterdam.nl/koninginnedag Dutch Railways info: http://www.ns.nl/servlet/Satellite?cid=10823621299 BTW if you join, wear something Orange!
