Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Durban Shark diving and rugby
Posted: Fri April 14, 2006 04:28 PM UTC
Hi, I posted this question earlier and later founde half my answer through my own research. The part I have left is if shark diving is possible in Durban, also is the weather still good for this in MAY/June (in Durban I know it is hot most of the time). Also, I wanted to know the dates for rugby season. Would like to get in a sharks match if possible. Are they still playing in May/June? Thanks

Not sure exactly what you understand by "shark diving". May/June is a good time for diving on Aliwal Shoal (Umkomaas, near Durban) though, and also a good time to see the famous raggies (ragged-toothed sharks) there. June probably better than May. They generally spend the winter there, but of course there are never any guarantees...

At Ushaka marine world they have a shark cage. I don't know if that is what you are looking for. It is not out in the sea on a boat but at the aqauruim area. Have a look at www.ushakamarineworld.co.za.
Click on the left on Fun stuff and another list will open on the right with shark cage, ocean walker etc.
