| San José | Flight from San Jose to Bocas Del Toro - Lodging overnight Posted: Wed April 12, 2006 06:30 PM UTC
I'll be arriving at the international airport and understand that I will fly out of the other airport to the west of San Jose. Does anyone have experience with accomodations and travel to and from the airports? Any information will be appreciated. Thanks, Michael

Michael- you might want to vist www.natureair.com. Nature Air provides domestic flights within Costa Rica to most of the major tourist areas. I believe they have a flight from San Jose to Bocas Del Toro, about 6 hour. We used them to fly from La Fortuna to Manual Antonio...it was a breeze, total travel time was about 1 hour compared to the 3-4 hours it took on the private bus from San Jose to La Fortuna. The airplane is very small - charter planes, so if you're not comfortable in small places...this may not be the best option. As for accomodations, I really don't know what's around the airport, we stayed at the Best Western, Downtown (about 20-30 minutes away). Ok hotel, nothing glamourous, but for a "pit-stop" it was great!
Sidenote: If you have a chance, I would recommend a visit to Puerto Viejo, CR- it's just north of Bocas Del Toro, great reggae-vibe little town. We ran out of time to visit Bocas Del Toro, but heard really great things about it, have fun!
