If you are travelling on a passenger cruise liner, your ship will probably not be docking in Monaca but off the coast of Villefranche Su Mer. Tender boats will take you to Villefranche where you can spend the afternoon in the Riviera. During my stopover in Villefranche on the Legend of the Seas, I took at shore excursion of Monaco, Nice and Eze. It saves you the trouble of having to wait for the train to get to these places within the short time allocated for your shore activities. Visit my travelogue on Legend of the Seas.

thank you for your wealth of information. Unfortunatley, being somewhat computer illiterate, I can't figure out how to get into your travelogue. Can you tell me how far it is from the port into the casino area?

Monaco RE: Monte Carlo / Getting Around
Posted: Thu April 13, 2006 01:38 AM UTC
Greetings:

We just spent time on the Riviera in
Nice / Cannes and Monte Carlo. It was
our 4th time back there ....

While we werein Monte Carlo, we found
it fun and easy to walk just about every
where in Monte Carlo with no problem.

We walked along the marina to see all
the yachts, from there we walk up the
hill to the Palace to see the change of
the guard, and then along the little
narrow streets.

At night, we walked along the shore over
to the casino, than back through town to
the main area near the train station.

All Monte Carlo is walkable in a day, and
you'll have time left over.

Check out our "Monte Carlo" page and all
the recent tips.

Also, we have alot of pictures posted that
are very recent from our last trip a few
months ago.

Have a great time and enjoy ....

From Villefranche Su Mer, it takes 15 minutes to get to Monaco by bus. Along the way, you will pass by quaint medieval villages like Eze. Visit my Monaco and Eze pages for more information. You will probably only have time to visit the Monaco Palace and the Casino.
