| Marlborough | is there anything to see between Picton and Blenheim? Posted: Thu April 6, 2006 04:38 PM UTC
Hello i have the choice of flying to either of these two towns, to pick up my campervan - but i am heading to Kaikoura for 3.00 in the afternoon - is there anything interesting to see on the road between P and B or shall i fly straight to Blenheim from Wellington and pick up my campervan there? I see there is a small road that goes along the coast - is it worth taking it instead of taking the highway?
thank you |

I would recommend flying to Blenheim. There is nothing special between P and B. (although otherwise you might see a glimpse of the sounds).
Take a look in one of the wineries around Blenheim. From Blenheim south the roas is very scenic; don't miss the Awatere Bridge (and valley) and Lake Grassmere with its pink colour. Happy travels Jaap

Yep, head to Blenheim. Don't be tempted to take that coastal route either as I think you will find it is a rough gravel road. We also considered taking it but talked to a local who advised us to stick to the highway.
