I will be doing a stop in Aruba during a cruise. I need a beach suggestion! But I need shade! I have fair skin and this will be the last cruise stop and I don't want to burn or add to a burn. The beach also does not need to be real hopping but acess to drinks and food is always nice! Thanks for your suggestions.......Joan ....Sail on....

We stopped there for our cruise too. We rented a car right beside the jetty. Not too much either. I think about $40. If you head left from there, its only about 20 minutes or so to the end of the island. There is a nice beach on the left just before the end. They have a few permanent umbrellas there (it actually is a hotel beach, but there was almost no one there). There is a lot of hotels/restaurants and beaches all the way along there. You can drive to the north side as well. There is a much craggier area with rocky beaches, but some nice formations. Don't bother going right from the jetty, there really isn't much down there except the airport. There is some nice restaurant right across the street from where you get off the ship and some shopping too.
Don't know if you are also going to Curacao, but there are no public beaches there and you must pay to go onto them and they are all man made. Hope this helps.
