Puno Taquile vs Isla del Sol
Posted: Sun April 2, 2006 07:32 PM UTC
Have only 2 nights for Lake Titicaca and unsure of best way to use them. Am leaving early am from LaPaz and want to visist Isla del Sol, Uros and Taquile. Which one is the best for overnight stay? Would like to do both but need to be in Puno early morning of third day for bus to Cusco.

Do I depart LaPaz, visit & overnoght Isla del sol,bus to Puno from Cococabana, visit uros & Taquile & overnight Puno, then bus early am to Cuzco

Isla del Sol. Easier to get to than Taquile and Uros are just a tourist trap. Don't try to cram in too much, just stay on Isla del Sol and do the stunningly beautiful walk from one end to the other and get a boat back to where you started and catch a boat back to Copacabana and go straight to Cusco. I wouldn't even bother with Puno. Either spend a night in Copacabana and visit the beautiful church, or get extra time in Cusco.
