Visit Greenland Posted: Tue June 3, 2003 06:03 PM UTC
Hi! If anyone out there is planning to visit Greenland, please send me an email if you have any questions. I am seeking friends from all over the world and if you would like to visit my town maybe I can help you with accommodation. I am a danish girl, living and working in Kangerlussuaq/Sonderstrom and it would be a lot of fun to meet new friends here. Mathilde

But it's still rather expensive to get to Greenland. Cheap fares are now available to Iceland (from London and Copenhagen, anyway) thanks to Iceland Express. But how much does it cost to fly on to Greenland?

Iceland-Greenland Posted: Tue June 3, 2003 07:03 PM UTC
AirIceland charges apprx. 550 us dollars from Reykavik to Kulusuk, which is on the eastcoast of Greenland. If you go directly from Copenhagen to Sonderstrom (westcoast) the cheapest ticket will cost you appx. 640 us dollars.(AirGreenland) I have never been on the eastcoast of Greenland, but I still think I would recommend the westcoast of Greenland over the eastcoast. Much more to see I think.

Hallűjsa Matilde - I would love to visit but like everyone else, the air fare seems very expensive. I am English but I speak some Danish & I love to chat in the Greenland chat rooms in Ofir.dk but a lot of people seem very reluctant to speak Danish there. My question for you is what language(s) do you hear in the street and on TV and how widely spoken is English there and finally, do you speak any Greenlandic yourself - It looks almost impossible to me. Thinking of a visit to Greenland in September of 2007. Greenland Air is starting direct service from Baltimore, Maryland, eastcoast USA. I am interested in seeing the Northern Lights. Anyone have any information or advice on this kind of an adventure, would be helpful. Is there that much to do in Greenland? Expensive? Crazy?
Thanks

Re: Visit Greenland Posted: Sun May 18, 2008 01:48 PM UTC
Dear Mathilde,
we are from Tyskland and we are planning our first travel to greenland. WeŽll come in august for 3 or 4 weeks. At the moment we think about staying some days in Kangerlussuaq and then travel with the ship to Sisimiut, Aasiaat, Qeqertarsuaq and Ilulisaat. I found some of the ship routes at the Arctic Umiaq Line but some of them I didnŽt find. Could you help me with informations about travelling by ship from Kangerlussuaq to Sisimiut and from Aasiaat to Qeqertarsuaq? I read in some books and information that it is important to make reservation for the ships. What do you think, because we canŽt say how long weŽll gonna stay at the places?
Mange tak og vengli hilsen fra tyskland
