Have to say that public transport in the area is pretty basic. The FEVE trains and ALSA buses provide most of the local transport so check them out on the web. RENFE is the national railway system and is also worth looking at to get close to where you want to get to.

I've been looking at FEVE and ALSA, I think there must be other small bus companies though I haven't found their websites. It doesn't look overly easy by public transport so maybe there are travel agents in Llanes that organise trips. I've seen pictures of the Cares gorge and it looks like a spectacular walk - but rather difficult to do using public transport from Llanes - you have to get to Poncebos and or Cain for the walk.
Does anyone know of a reliable travel agent that offers this sort of thing from Llanes, and any idea of prices etc ? Muchas Gracias

I don't know about Llanes and your hotel might be the best bet. I've booked a summer trip and used a local travel Agent Rumbo al Norte.es. They were very helpful and might be able to sort ot your accomodation and deal with the transport enquiries. If you can get there the Cares gorge is fantastic and well worth the effort.

Thanks Paul
I'm slowly piecing something together - but it may be best to wait 'til we're there and ask at the tourist office, bus station and travel agents.
