Naxos Island Travel Forum

I am planning to go to Naxos for a week in June- but I dont know the easiest way to get there?
Do flights from London,UK go directly to Naxos- if so which airlines?
or
Do we have to fly to Athens then take a connecting flight to Thira? (is that on Naxos)
or
Is it easier to fly to a nearby island and take a ferry to Naxos?

Thira is not in Naxos but Santorini. These islands are close but not that close.
Both islands have airports but I am not sure if Naxos' airport is international. Durring summer flights from Athens to the islands are frequent. You can always take the ferry. It much cheaper but it takes much longer obivously. I think about six hours from Piraeus to Naxos with the fast ship.

I am almost certain that the airport on Naxos has no international flights. You could fly to Mykonos or Santorini and then take the ferry to Naxos, which is not a very long trip. Plus it would give you the chance to see one of those islands as well. Another option, as noted above, is to fly to Athens and then on to Naxos. I hope you enjoy your visit. No, you can't fly directly to Naxos from London. The easiest way, possibly the most scenic, is a charter flight to Santorini(also called Thira) or scheduled flight to Athens (EasyJet, British Airways, Olympic Airlines) then the ferry. Another possibility is direct charter to Mykonos but the ferry is less frequent. These direct charter flights only operate May-October.
