Austin Business Trip to Austin
Posted: Tue March 28, 2006 11:18 PM UTC
I will be coming to Austin on a business trip and will be staying in the west.

I would like to take this opportunity to tour around in Austin.

I found out that there are no nearby routes to the downtown or anywhere.

And I am afraid the cab fare will be very expensive if I were to take a cab.

Any brilliant idea where I can go to downtown at the most cheapest way.

When you say you are staying in the west...you mean west Austin, or west of Austin?

Also, when you say there are no nearby routes to the downtown or anywhere...do you mean bus routes?

Please clarify.

If you could give us a hotel name or general location of where exactly you will be staying, we may can help.

However, I have to say, when traveling in Texas, sometimes renting a car is the easiest and cheapest way to go.

Sorry I should be more specific.

I am staying in an apartment near southwest parkway. and I don't think they have any buses there.

I would like to rent a car too, but too bad I don’t drive.

Is there a cheaper way where I can take a cab to and from there, take the buses?

Appreciate your help.

hmmmm...

You're right, there's only a "flyer" (171)out to that area. Looks like it runs on weekdays for business people - only certain times.

Best bet is probably a cab. Looks like it will run you about $17.50 one way.

Sorry about that. Austin is pretty spread out.

Once you get to the downtown area, I believe there is free transportation around...we usually just walk.

Wish I had a better answer for you!
