Juneau Tracy Arm Cruise from Juneau - Adventure Bound vs Goldbelt Tours(Spirit of Adventure)
Posted: Tue March 28, 2006 01:58 PM UTC
Does any one have an idea of what is the difference between the two one day cruises to Tracy Arm from Juneau?

One is by Adventure Bound ($120pp) the other one is by Goldbelt Tours ($147.5pp)
Please help us decide as to which one of them is better.
We would prefer the better one the one that goes closest to the glaciers(north & south sawyer glacier and also takes out time for wildlife.)
Thanks

I've never been on either, but have heard from family and friends that the goldbelt trip is very good. My daughter emailed photos of her trip - lots of wildlife, including humpback and killer whales and almost too close to the glacier - they were almost calved on.
The other item to recommend them is they are independently owned and operated by local native corporation - not a subdivision of the cruise lines - so the money you pay stays in Alaska.
Haven't heard of Adventure Bound so can't speak good or bad about them.

Have fun!

I haven't been out with Gold Belt, but I can tell you that our trip with Adventure Bound in September '04 was fabulous. The captain got us right up to both of the Sawyer glaciers (well, as close as you can safely get), hauled aboard a couple of sea kayakers on the way back for real "local" flavour, and found us lots of humpback whales. There was a good local library (mostly whale photo books) in the cabin, and there was never a hint that we were on any sort of schedule. I would certainly do it again without hesitation or shopping around.
